This information page can be used by potential applicants seeking to nominate skilled occupations which are acceptable for permanent and temporary skilled migration to Australia under two separate programs:

  • General Skilled Migration
  • Employer Nominated Scheme.

UPDATED 07/10/2011

Applicability of a particular Skilled Occupations List (SOL) will depend on a number of factors. As such extreme precautions must be undertaken. We decide which list and what transitional provisions are applicable to you on a case by case basis under a consultation only.

General Skilled Migration Skilled Occupation Lists (SOL)

Applicants must have a nominated occupation which is on the SOL applicable to their circumstances at the time they apply:

Employer Nomination Scheme Occupation List (ENSOL)

If applicants are applying under the Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS), they must have been nominated by an Australian employer to fill a position in an occupation that appears in the ENSOL.
See: Employer Nomination Scheme - Occupations, Locations, Salaries and Relevant Assessing Authorities – June 2011

Note: Applicants must obtain this skills assessment before they lodge their visa application and they must provide it to the department at the time they lodge their visa application.

This has increased emails and telephone calls we receive from people all over the world and also from Migration Agents who are confused.  As a professional practice we do not depend on web site information but depend on the actual legislative instruments and policy advice manual.

For clients to choose the correct list we have put a explanatory note in each list.
